Bard on Google AI chatbots are able to respond to queries in natural language using both text and images.

Its core is Google’s large language model (LLM) Gemini, which can handle complex tasks like coding, logical thinking, and creative teamwork.

Google’s Bard, a web-based program that lets users interact with Gemini and learn about its possibilities, was unveiled in November 2023.

However, Gemini is utilized by many products other than just Bard. Google has begun integrating Gemini into its other services, such as YouTube, Gmail, and Maps, in order to enhance their features and functionality.

For example, Gemini may be used to compose emails on Gmail, get directions in Maps, and make YouTube video thumbnails and subtitles.

According to a changelog that developer Dylan Roussel leaked on X, Google decided to rename the Bard AI Chatbot as Gemini to reflect this connection and avoid confusion (previously Twitter).

Dated February 7, 2024, the changelog mentions that “Bard is now Gemini” and gives an explanation for the renaming choice.

It also reveals a few more tweaks and enhancements that Google has planned for Gemini.

One of the biggest updates is the addition of Gemini Advanced, a premium membership level that allows users to access Gemini Ultra, the strongest and most capable version of Gemini.

Deep analysis, multi-modal production, and intricate coding are just a few of the jobs that Gemini Ultra can handle. Users speaking English will get access to Gemini Advanced in more than 150 countries.

A further update is that Gemini is now accessible in Canada, the first nation to do so since the service’s first launch. Canadian users will be able to use Gemini for planning, writing, and learning, among other things.

Furthermore, Google is working on the Gemini app specifically for Android phones, which will let users access and use Google AI on their phones for a range of functions.

The app will also interface with other Google services, such as YouTube, Gmail, and Maps, to provide a seamless and useful experience.

Google has not officially confirmed the changes and rebranding, even though the changelog suggests that they will be available soon.

Other AI chatbots on the market, such as Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which all generate text and images using massive language models, are expected to compete with Google’s Gemini.

However, Google’s Gemini has an advantage over its competitors in terms of scale, speed, and quality.
